The Herd

THE DOES

The very first goat to arrive to Duck Ridge Farm was Daisy. She's our herd queen, and has earned her place here for life. She has kidded for us multiple times, and has always been a fantastic mother. Yes, she has horns, but also a very well shaped capacious udder that produces a steady amount of milk for our farm!

Next up, we have Jace's Ridge Lunar Eclipse ("Luna")

https://www.adgagenetics.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=D002047142

Luna is as dairy as they come! Along with her beautiful conformation, her udder has always had great capacity and such a soft texture to it. This doe is who set the standard for my hand milking needs on the farm. I never WANTED to hand milk a doe until Luna arrived here and showed me how amazing it can be!

Next up is June! She is out of Daisy, and sired by Jace's Ridge Made in America (see below!). Being that Daisy has loved to deliver bucklings, we were ecstatic this year when she also gave us a doeling! As she's maturing I am noticing a lot of fantastic traits her sire has passed on. I believe she'll turn into a wonderful dairy goat and look forward to seeing her bloom!

Duck Ridge Chaos Magic ("Wanda")

https://www.adgagenetics.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=D002205998

Sweet Wanda here is carrying on the legacy of her late dam, Jace's Ridge Have Mercy (pictured in the bottom 2 photos). Mercy contracted meningeal worm in October of 2020, so unfortunately all of her conformation shots show a weak back end due to the nerve damage done by the worm. And while her udder never filled up completely either (suspected by the worm damage), the size and placement of her teats, and udder structure and texture certainly made up for a lower production. Mercy sadly passed away in December of 2022. Wanda has big shoes to fill, but I think she will take on her position extremely well. Her sire, Better Wayz Bangarang *B has definitely enhanced Mercy's conformation traits, and once freshened, I believe Wanda will have a wonderfully attached udder with a great desire to milk!

Jace's Ridge Chesapeake ("Chessie") - ADGA pending.

This little ball of fire is a mascot for us here. Her energy and gumption always has us laughing! Born in October 2022, she has a lot of maturing left to do, but I am beyond thrilled to see what she brings to our herd. Be sure to check out our social media platforms to stay up to date on her crazy antics!

MINI NUBIANS

Jace's Ridge Temperance (Pending MDGA).

One of 2 of our Mini Nubian does, this gal is sure to be a powerhouse milker! She is due to freshen in early summer of 2023. I absolutely love her Roman nose, and her seemingly well shaped and high escutcheon! I can overlook the airplane ears because of her other wonderful features ;)

THE BUCKS

Silver Maple Prince Charming *B ("Charming")

https://www.adgagenetics.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=D001955436

Charming was purchased almost on a whim, with zero knowledge at the time that he's also Luna and Mercy's sire! To say I have a "type" would be completely accurate. After seeing his daughter's udders and dairy style, I knew I could use him to increase the dairy strength in some of my other does. Oh, and did I mention he's also the uncle of our MIni Nubian does? :P

Bettter Wayz Bangarang *B

https://www.adgagenetics.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=D002099553

This little guy, affectionately known as my bargain buck, is making big improvements on my herd! His sire is Better Wayz Sirocco's Legacy +*B, who was on the 2021 ADGA Elite Buck List. His dam's udder (SG Old Mountain Farm Sirocco 4*M EEEE91) is picture on the bottom right.

Bangarang's dam, SG Better Wayz Isabelle 3*M received an LA score in 2021 of VEEE91 and was on the ADGA Elite Doe List in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Additionally, she was in the top 10 for Butterfat in 2020 & 2021, being 1st place in 2021!

Jace's Ridge Made in America ("Goose")

https://www.adgagenetics.org/GoatDetail.aspx?RegNumber=D002099079

When this boy became available for a 2nd time, I knew it was my chance. Sired by Better Wayz Little Boy Blue *B, I knew I was bringing in more of those fantastic genetics I've grown to love. Additionally, his dam, Chatterbox DC Faith scored a remarkable VVVV85 as a first freshener in her 2019 LA session. And look at her udder! I want a herd full of those!
